Green Book – film Review

No plot spoilers

This is an awesome film, I loved it.
Set in 1962, a very refined black American piano virtuoso hires an ignorantly racist Italian nightclub bouncer from the Bronx to be his driver on a two month concert tour of the deep South.
It’s hardly surprising that he needs more than a driver. Described as a comedy drama, this is a road trip movie which explores the themes of racial prejudice by looking at it through the eyes of two very sympathetic but completely different characters.
Although it has moments of drama, it’s actually the story of how two people change each other by forming a friendship and trust.
Both actors are superb. I couldn’t quite believe it was Viggo Mortensen playing the Italian nightclub bouncer.

The story is moving but not sentimental. Go see it!
