A Little Pocket of Heaven

I have just completed a retreat at El Palmeral. What a privilege!   I feel like I have entered a little pocket of heaven on earth.

Snuggled away in the Spanish countryside near Alicante, Mike and Julie welcome 10 to 12 guests regularly into what is their home and is also a retreat centre. You can come for “time out” where you can simply ask in the leisurely timetable: A huge expanse of personal space between Morning Prayer at 9:45am and Compline at 9.45pm.

The welcome is warm. The food is fabulous. The garden and pool are delightful. The company is good but when it all gets too much, there is the wonderful gift of “house in quiet” for two hours every afternoon.

This week’s retreat was led by Tony Horsfall on Building Resilience. He gave us an excellent blend of teaching and reflection. I have got away with much to treasure and ponder over… Possibly more blogs to follow on this!

For now some photos and a warm recommendation along with heartfelt thanks.
