Another New (and beautifully loud) experience

Today I did something for the first time: I was shown part of how to ring a church bell and allowed to have a go!

Very exciting as I’ve never served in a church which has bells before and St Matthew’s Salford Priors has eight – apparently when they all get going the whole tower sways.

The sound from outside was amazing – the snippet doesn’t do it justice.

But the most uplifting thing of all were the words of the bellringer who instructed me: “a great way to say Jesus, to as many possible, as loudly as possible” Now, whenever I hear them ringing I will think about the name of Jesus being said (pealed?) over our community.
