Wild Swimming

It may look like somewhere on the Mediterranean but it was Scotland. Fabulous: 7 days and 6 wild swims. Two in my birthday suit (which for those of you scandalised by my Facebook book post is the wetsuit given to me for my birthday, what where you thinking?). Some swims in rivers, some in lochs, some in the sea.

I think the best was the river in Glen Nevis that runs through the Steall gorge. We cycled 5 miles further up the valley from the youth hostel at the foot of the Ben Nevis path. You need to keep going till the very last car park where the road literally goes no further and becomes a footpath. Then we locked our bikes to a tree and hiked for 40 minutes through the gorge which opens out into a valley with the river and the rope bridge. Walk to the end of the valley for a close up view of the 150 metre falls. Stunning.
