Who is pressing your buttons?

Has anyone else noticed the oddities occasionally offered by the predictive texting on your mobile? Type in 'go' and you get 'in', 'he' and you get 'if', 'got' and you get 'hot'. Bizarrely, predictive texting will often NOT let me spell very straightforward words but allows me to type in nonsensical words like 'donkle', 'phen', or 'graf'. I was... Continue Reading →

Only kidding…..

with regard to the blog posted earlier today, please refer to the date on which it was posted. If I get ordained at all (after all this irreverent  frivolity) I will of course be wearing a standard black cassock, a white surplice, black shoes and a red stole. To any for whom this a disappointment, apologies!

The ‘Ordination Make Over’

Hot news: I've just been told I am allowed to choose my own ordination outfit!!! Not for nothing have I been called the 'Gok Wan' of the Anglican Church. At last the chance for a real make-over!   Here is the traditional ordination outfit:  a black full length cassock, and a white surplice. Stand a lot... Continue Reading →

Warning: I have character defects…

'Warning:   I have character defects and I'm not afraid to use them' This was the slogan on the fridge magnet I bought for my husband this week. It was part of a peace-offering because we had had a long distance 'disagreement' ( that would be a row then). I think the bottle of red wine went further... Continue Reading →

How to write an essay

My mission, now I've chosen to accept it is to write 2,000 intelligent words on two passages from Romans.  Here's my advice on how to write an essay: First, make yourself comfortable food: essay writing adds a whole new meaning to the phrase 'living hand to mouth' . Personally I find a large bag of popcorn is the ideal,... Continue Reading →

Digital Native

I have just spent 20 minutes with a digital native. I have also learnt this week that I am NOT a digital native, I am a digital immigrant. And the chances are  YOU are a digital immigrant too (otherwise you would not be reading this blog) although of course you could be a native. It's amazing what can... Continue Reading →

Engage brain… before inserting eyes!

So I haven't being seeing very well for the last month... Why is this? I wondered? Old age? Eye strain brought on by too much blogging? Nah, none of the above.  I've been wearing my contact lenses in the wrong eyes... again!  D'oh! I've made this mistake once before but on that occasion it only took... Continue Reading →

Finding God… but to a deadline

I really enjoyed yesterday's story about the Large Hadron Collider. Apparently after investing 'Mega-Enormous-Huge' amounts of money trying to find the 'God Particle' (Higgs bosun) scientists have announced that if they if haven't found it by the end of next year, it doesn't exist! To my untrained, unscientific ears this sounded very odd. What if... Continue Reading →

Is it possible to think without words?

I'm back at college... more long words: epistemological, ontological and eschatological (loosely translated 'how did we get 'stuff'/what is 'stuff'/what will happen to 'stuff' in the end) I've been wondering whether it's possible to think without words? It must be: children who can't yet speak can still think. Even my dog 'thinks' but how do either... Continue Reading →
